Meet Michelle

Michelle is dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of parents who will then have that same positive impact on their children. By recognizing the strengths within each individual family she works with, she can enhance their efforts for improvement. You will have the family life you always envisioned it would be.

Parents recognize the positive impact Michelle's coaching has had on their families:

My parent coaching sessions with Michelle were such a positive experience! Even after a tough day I would come away from my sessions feeling empowered, confident and more at peace with my parenting. I gained a better understanding of the kind of parent I want to be. Together, we came up with practical solutions which will help me be that parent.
—Curtis, father of four

As a fairly new parent with two small children and another on the way, I expected my parent coaching experience to enhance my practical parenting skills- potty training, discipline, time management, etc. Michelle helped me also focus more globally on the dreams that I have for my children and my family and to look at the ways my daily interactions guide our family toward those goals. My experience with parent coaching was a chance to reflect on the aspects of my parenting that felt stressful and learn to transform those into positive, meaningful times with my kids. Michelle helped me to articulate goals I have for myself as a parent and spouse and develop ways of thinking and acting that will lead me to that vision. Through my conversations with Michelle I recognized what I am most proud of about my own parenting style. That supportive environment made it possible for me to also look critically at my interactions with my kids and make adjustments to strengthen our overall relationships."
—Allison, mother of two (soon to be three)

Parenting is more difficult than ever before.

With ever-increasing media influences and cultural pressures, combined with time-starved lives, parents today face more challenges than ever.

Often, parents are reluctant to share their parenting concerns with friends or family members. And, so-called "experts" found in bookstores and on television too often have "one size fits all" advice. By providing unbiased, empathetic feedback, a parent coach helps you to develop a parenting strategy that fits your personal goals for your family.

No matter what stage of life, parent coaching helps you determine strategies to address parenting concerns while leveraging what is already working within your family. It can help you rediscover who you are as a parent, build your confidence and esteem, and gain clarity to see what matters most to you. Additionally, coaching can address sibling rivalry, discipline challenges, and peer-related issues so you can get back to enjoying your children. You will learn how to take positive action at the right time to create the family life experience you most want to live.

Maggie works with parents of children of all ages (infant through young adulthood), as well as parents of children with special needs. She works parents with various challenges: including adolescence, ADD, and ADHD. And Maggie can help to address personal issues like the transition into parenthood and the adjustment of sending a child off to college—and beyond.

A parent for twenty years, Maggie's educational training includes a Master's Degree in Elementary Education and a Bachelor's Degree with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education. She is a PCI Certified Parent Coach through The Parent Coaching Institute (affiliated with Seattle Pacific University).

Maggie and her husband, Tom, have a daughter, Jordan, age 20 and a 17 year-old son, Nick.

Testimonials

What I appreciated most was how the coaching sessions made me think beyond what I was living everyday. Maggie asked questions that made me think more deeply about who I am as a parent, and my new role as a mom. I had become so wrapped up in just the day-to-day of what our lives had become I was almost on auto-pilot, but I knew that there were elements of being a parent that I needed to devote time to, but I just didn't have the time."
—A.M. (full-time working mim)
Maggie's warm and inviting personality made it easy to talk with her and share both the frustrations and successes of parenting. She is an excellent listener that encourages personal growth and promotes confidence in one's parenting skills. I really benefited from Maggie's help in setting goals and then discussing my progress on reaching those goals.
—S.V. (mother of three)

What a great opportunity we all have in parenting. My passion is to help parents face the challenges of today and transitions of tomorrow by supporting and providing resources. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a mom or dad develop confidence in his or her own strengths and abilities to parent. Would you like to function more as a team at home? Do you want to be proactive in your parenting, keeping reactions to a minimum? Are you questioning your effectiveness as a parent? Perhaps parent coaching is an opportunity for your family to grow.

I love working with clients who are interested in investing time in their families unconditionally as they discover the possibilities that await them. Laughter is a large component of my coaching as we develop a collaborative relationship. My goal is to affect one family at a time, leaving a legacy of love, allowing for each child's own individualism and gifts to the world. Along with almost thirty years of nursing experience and a Masters degree in nursing, I believe that much of my insight has come from raising four children, who are now attending high school and college. My Indiana-based practice allows me to work with local and long-distance clients and focuses on simplifying routines, fresh air, and enjoying your family life more.
